The Great Religious Debate

The fact is that religious debates have been going on for hundreds of years. When you get into a conversation with others about religion it is bound to get heated. It seems that believers and non-believers are always arguing over elements of religion. Religion is the belief and worship of a superhuman entity or God. It is faith, worship and devotion to a higher power. In Latin it means to hold fast, hold back and link together. Many individuals turn to religion as a way to understand the world and gain strength in hard times.

Religion can help people survive and have control in the way they live their daily lives. There are many different types of religion in the world including Paganism, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and more. The fact is that while many people believe only in the science of the world, it can’t answer every question put forth. It all comes down to creation against evolution. The Darwinist thinks that life started from genetic mutations. The other side believes in the Bible and Adam and Eve. The bible and its contents are truth.

They believe that the world was made in 7 days and that Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. Worshippers believe that there is a heaven and hell and that we those who don’t believe will end up in the eternal fires below. The fact is that many scientists are also religious. It was once said, “Religion without science is superstition and science without religion is materialism.” For those of us that do believe in a higher power arguing with those who don’t can become frustrating. People who don’t believe in any god are called “atheists.”

However, it is the atheists who are always quick to argue over the existence of a god even though they have no beliefs. Is it that they like to argue, or do they think they can convert those of us that believe? If the latter is true then they are barking up the wrong tree. If you have a certain belief that comforts you and gives you strength in life then why would you give it up? Atheists have a different belief system and want others to join the cause. Believers would tell you that these people are going to hell because they don’t believe in God.

However, atheists are not buying that because they only believe in scientific facts and evidence which they claim religion does not bring forth. Some believe that atheism itself is its own religion. With the world changing and growing and with all the different nations and nationalities and religions on earth is a complex issue. It all comes down to one’s own personal beliefs and what they have practiced throughout their lives. Believing in a higher power is not for everyone, no matter how hard that may be to understand. While we can debate religion amongst ourselves the fact remains we all have our beliefs and that is how we choose to live our lives.
